Live Nation cancels second Sasquatch weekend | Arts & Culture
Concert organizer Live Nation has cancelled the inaugural second weekend of the popular Sasquatch music festival. The traditional Memorial Day weekend festival will continue as scheduled.
Known for selling out within minutes, Sasquatch at the Gorge is one of the most popular music events of the summer. So popular, that Live Nation decided to add a second weekend to the festival that was planned for 4th of July weekend -- more than month after the first event.
“They continue to support the traditional Memorial Day weekend with great enthusiasm,” said Jeff Trisler, President of Live Nation Seattle. “Unfortunately, the second weekend was not embraced.”
The second weekend was announced in June, after the 2013 festival sold out in a record breaking 90 seconds. Each weekend was scheduled to have different musical acts.
“We felt it was better to cancel the event now and give everyone time to make alternative plans for the 4th of July weekend,” said Trisler. “Going forward, Sasquatch Music Festival will be at the Gorge Amphitheatre on the weekend that fans want: Memorial Day weekend only.”
Those who purchased tickets for the 4th of July weekend will be refunded and those who bought passes for both weekends will be refunded the price of the second weekend. There is still some passes available Memorial Day weekend. For more information call Ticketmaster at 1-800-745-3000.
