Drive-By Shooting Interrupts Soccer Game | Crime
(Updated 5:46 p.m.) - A high school soccer game in Mattawa was interrupted by a drive-by shooting over the weekend. Now, sheriff's deputies need help finding the people responsible. According to witnesses that have come forward, the vehicle used in the shooting may be a gold-colored Oldsmobile Intrigue.
Around 1:00 Saturday afternoon, someone fired shots at the athletic field next to Wahluke High School. Witnesses who were watching the soccer game say a car drove by, the people inside shouted profanities and threats toward a rival gang, then fired several shots from the car. Soccer players and spectators had to take cover; no one was hit by the bullets. The high school canceled the soccer game as a precaution.
Deputies were able to recover shell casings from the area and they're being sent to the state crime lab for analysis.
