Arrest made in jogger hit and run

An Othello man turned himself on Monday and has been arrested for hitting a jogger twice with a car on Sunday evening.

Saul Angeles Pamas, 23, voluntarily went to the Grant County Sheriff's Office in Ephrata. After he was interviewed by investigators Pamas was arrested on suspicion of second degree assault and hit and run with injury to a person.

“This was the kind of case which stunned the public as well as investigators,” said Sheriff Tom Jones. “I'm glad the suspect was caught and I am inspired by the victim's strength and will to survive such and ordeal.”

Jackie Mooney was running near Road 10 SE and State Route 262 on Sunday when the driver of a car asked her is she wanted a ride. When she declined, the driver turned around and struck her twice with the car. Mooney was able to get help from a nearby property owner and was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
