Train collides with semi-truck | News
The Grant County Sheriff’s Office Motor Traffic Unit and Columbia Basin Railroad are investigating a collision between a train and a semi-truck that happened on Friday afternoon.
Jamie Veliz of Othello was driving a 2004 Peterbilt pulling two hooper trailers when he tried to cross the train tracks at a private crossing on the El Oro Cattle Company property. A southbound Columbia Basin Railroad train struck the truck and pushed it off the west side of the tracks.
Veliz received only minor injuries and was treated and released at Samaritan Hospital. The train’s crew were not injured. The Peterbilt is a total loss, but the hopper trailers were not damaged. There was minor damage to train.
