Grand Coulee Dam Preps For Construction | Transportation
Things are going to be getting a little busy for Grand Coulee Dam. Hopefully this doesn't ruin your family roadtrip plans, but we’ve been advised that residents in the area should be prepared to hear helicopter crews overhead for the next four weeks as overhead lines over the dam are removed.
To ensure public safety, there will be some traffic delays in the area says Lynne Brougher, Grand Coulee Power. Delays start March 12th to the 24th. Motorists can anticipate 5-10 minutes delays on Highway 155 and flaggers guiding drivers through the construction zone. The work zone lasts from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday through Friday.
Visitors to the dam can also expect the Lower Visitor Center Park to be closed from February 26th to April 14th to accommodate the removal of high voltage towers in the park.
The Grand Coulee Dam Visitor Center will also be closed from March 12th to the 17th. Makeshift operations will be set up to the Magnetometer Building on the west side of the river in town.
